Our international Master Classes are all presented by award-wining whisky writer, journalist and world renowned whisky expert, Dave Broom with more than 30 years of experience in the whisky industry. He has written several books on whisky, including “The World Atlas of Whisky”, “Whisky: The Manual”, “The Way of Whisky: A Journey Around Japanese Whisky”, and “The Science and Commerce of Whisky”.
Broom has travelled extensively to whisky producing regions around the world, including Scotland, Japan, and the United States, and has a deep understanding and appreciation of the craft of whisky making. He is known for his ability to translate complex technical information into accessible language for both novice and expert whisky enthusiasts.
Each master class will be hosted by one incredible whisky brand and offer you an exclusive once in a lifetime experience, not to be missed.
The Clash of the Irish comes to Whisky Live Festival 2023
Dunville’s Irish Whiskey, of Echlinville Distillery, as well as Silkie Irish Whiskey, of Sliabh Liag Distillers, will both feature in this year’s third and final international master class – with the brands offering guests an exclusive immersive experience that will offer an unparalleled view into the artform that is Irish whiskey.
Along with Dave Broom, James Doherty, Chairman of the Irish Whiskey Association, will be representing Silkie Irish Whisky; whilst Stephen Magennis will be taking the reins and representing Dunville’s Irish Whiskey. These legends of Irish Whiskey will offer guests an exclusive look into both brands – complete with a comprehensive guided whiskey tasting. Special reserves will be available to the audience – some of which are yet to be tasted in South Africa.
