WHISKY LIVE FESTIVAL BRAND INTRODUCTION SERIES
INTRODUCING ARDBEG | the ultimate Islay single malt
In celebration of our 21-year legacy, Whisky Live is thrilled to invite you back to the Whisky Live Festival – an event that pays homage to the enchanting World of Whisky.
Over the next few weeks we are going to introduce to you our amazing range of product that you can expect to find and enjoy at Whisky Live, from 1 – 3 November 2023 at the Firs in Rosebank.
The small, remote Scottish island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-lah’) is an antique land. A wild and untamed place, where Celtic monks found refuge from raiding Norsemen and early distillers smuggled their illicit “aquavitae” at Ardbeg’s rugged rocky cove.
Abundant soft water, fertile soil and acres of precious peat makes this island a place of pilgrimage for the single malt whisky faithful.
Ardbeg has been called “as close to perfection as makes no difference,” by whisky connoisseurs. Proof then, that Ardbeg truly deserves its incredible reputation. It’s a whisky that’s worshipped around the world. In the past ten years, six different Ardbeg expressions have won prestigious titles including World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single Malt.

ARDBEG 10
Ardbeg Ten Years Old is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all. Yet it does not flaunt the peat; rather it gives way to the natural sweetness of the malt to produce a whisky of perfect balance.
Non-chill filtered.
TASTING NOTES | Sea spray. Tarry rope. Immense smoky intensity.
ARDBEG WEE BEASTIE | A monster of a dram.
Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest permanent expression to join the Distillery’s Ultimate Range. At just five years old, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste.
Non-chill filtered.
TASTING NOTES | Chocolate, tar, and savoury meats. Black pepper and sappy pine resin. Young and intensely smoky.
ARDBEG AN OA | Singularly rounded.
It is acknowledged by oilskin-clad locals and Gore-tex®-sheathed visitors alike that the Ardbeg Distillery can be subject to alarmingly fierce winds, driving rain and eerie coverings of haar. However, these frequent weather events would be far more extreme, were it not for the presence of the Mull of Oa.
Topographically speaking, the Distillery is sheltered from the harshest excesses of the mighty Atlantic by this rounded peninsula in the south of Islay. This vast, jutting promontory is the inspiration for Ardbeg An Oa!
Like the Mull of Oa, it is noticeably rounded. This is due in no small part to a spell spent in Ardbeg’s newly-established Gathering Vat.
Within the vat we gather together whiskies from several cask types – including; sweet Pedro Ximenez; spicy Virgin charred oak; and intense ex-bourbon casks, amongst others – where they familiarise themselves with each other. The result is a dram with smoky power, mellowed by a delectable, smooth sweetness. Hallmark Ardbeg peat, dark chocolate and aniseed are wrapped in smooth, silky butterscotch, black pepper and clove, before rising to an intense crescendo of flavour.
Non chill-filtered.
TASTING NOTES | Smoky. Sweet. Singularly rounded.
ARDBEG CORRYVRECKAN | Not for the faint-hearted.
Ardbeg Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the bravest souls dare to venture. Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted! Awarded The World’s Best Single Malt in 2010 by the World Whiskies Awards.
Non-chill filtered.
TASTING NOTES | Turbulent. Peppery. Dark fruits.
DISCOVER LAIR UPON LAIR OF FLAVOUR IN ARDBEG SCORCH
Ardbeg Scorch has been matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks – heavily charred by the fiery exhale of Warehouse 3’s definitely-real-and-totally-not-made-up dragon*. Intense aromas of soot and smoke lie in wait, while grilled fare and black liquorice mingle with bold notes of medicinal lozenge. This truly is a dram of fantastical proportions.
Gear up for an immersive journey that weaves fascinating tales, unmatched tastings, and indelible moments into a tapestry of pure taste delight.
