The new sleek, sophisticated label of Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky is a true reflection of the South African brand’s innovation and vision as the country’s first single grain whisky.
Designed by Just Design, the label now features enriched visual cues that enhance the whisky’s unique story.
Founder distiller, Andy Watts’ signature has been added to the label paying tribute to his vision for crafting a single grain whisky long before the category became a trend around the globe. The simplistic yet prominent use of the Cape Mountain Leopard iconography has brought to life the fearlessness of these regal creatures who to this day roam the rugged terrain of the Cape Mountains – the very inspiration behind the whisky.
The original logotype was simplified with richness and depth added to the individual bold lettering and together with the use of the brand’s recognisable gold, white and black colouring, creates more impactful visual appeal and on-shelf prominence.
Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky has since its launch in South Africa in 2009 been lauded around the world at all the major international whisky competitions – from London to New York to China – for its exceptional smoothness and unique taste. The whisky was awarded World’s Best Grain Whisky at 2013 World Whiskies Awards and more recently took the World Whisky Trophy at the 2016 International Spirits Challenge (ISC) and a fourth consecutive gold at the 2017 New York International Spirits Competition.
The only whisky in the world to be made from South African maize, Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky is uniquely double matured first for three years in casks previously used for the maturation of Bourbon and then re-vatted for a further two years into a fresh set of 1st fill ex-Bourbon cask. This time consuming double maturation process allows the spirit to extract incredible flavour and depth of character from the wood resulting in a whisky that’s easy on the palate yet mesmerising and completely unforgettable.
The roll-out for the new packaging will commence mid-September and will be available nationwide at all fine liquor outlets retailing at around R269 per bottle.
