Every drop of Dewar’s condenses whisky wisdom acquired over many lifetimes. Dedication to craftsmanship and time-honoured traditions are vital for creating the classic character and keynotes of John Dewar and Son’s whiskies: rich sweetness, perhaps a touch of citrus, a hint of heather, and a trace of vanilla.

To begin the story however, one should start at the source: it’s 1892. A man leaves London with his luggage and some precious liquid – Dewar’s whisky. This man was Thomas Dewar, the founder. A charismatic marketing man, Tommy (as he was fondly known to his friends) wanted his family’s whisky to be the world’s most famous Scotch.

After leaving Scotland and establishing Dewar’s in London, Tommy decided to undertake a promotional tour of the globe. Two years and 26 countries later, the reach and reputation of Dewar’s whisky had increased tenfold.

Introducing Dewar’s 12 Year Old known as ‘The Ancestor’

This single malt grain whiskey is aged in hand-selected oak casks for at least 12 years. This 12-year-old blend stretches back over many decades, hence the name of ‘The Ancestor’

Dating back to 1954, when this blend was first introduced in honor of both our founder, John Dewar, and the company’s longest running advertising campaign: ‘The Whisky of His Forefathers’.

This 12 Year Old tastes of honey, home-made toffee apples and fudge. It is warm, buttery and mellow and has a hint of fresh citrus, subtle vanilla and melted caramel.

Dewar’s 15 Year Old, known as ‘The Monarch’

This sophisticated blend, expertly crafted by Dewar’s present Master Blender Stephanie Macleod, is a more recent addition to the range. It was named after the famous artwork ‘The Monarch of the Glen’, a painting from 1851 by Sir Edwin Landseer, which was purchased by Tommy Dewar in 1916.

The 15 year old has a golden honey and decadent toffee sauce flavor, delicate floral aromas, and it is smooth and well-rounded.

The sought after Aultmore

Often shrouded in fog, Aultmore distillery exudes a secretive air. Aultmore has been dubbed the ‘Rarest of Speyside’. This covert classic, rated ‘Top Class’ by industry experts, is linked to the mysterious terrain of the Foggie Moss, where wild, wet undergrowth of bracken, gorse and heather naturally filter the waters that furnish the distillery.

Furthermore, the malted barley that makes Aultmore whisky is entirely free from peat smoke; another factor that ensures its exceptionally smooth and clean taste in which green, grassy notes abound.
