Award Wining Cruxland returns to Whisky & Spirits Live!

By Whisky Live Staff 06-10-2018

Cruxland returns to the Whisky & Spirits Live Festival for a second time. The festival runs from 31 October - 2 November at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The Origins of Cruxland

The indigenous inhabitants of the Kalahari tell of secret treasures in the sand; sent down in crackling bursts of power from the skies. With knowledge passed down from generation to generation, the nomadic people of the desert would look to the heavens, watching thunderclouds and setting out when lightning struck, searching for delicate X-shaped cracks in the arid earth. As it happens, these “treasures” are !N’abbas; rare Kalahari truffles that burst from the ground when rain and autumn moisture causes them to swell. Rare even in their natural soil, these delicacies grow few and far apart and are hard to find without the help of a skilled !N’abbas hunter.

KWV has revived these gifts of the earth, hand-crafting a small batch of super premium gin from 100% grape spirits infused with the exotic taste of the Kalahari truffle and 8 other signature botanicals. This is then 6 times distilled, unlocking unique characteristics that come together to provide an extra-smooth finish.

These efforts have resulted in earning the title of “Best South African London Dry Gin” at the World Gin Awards, hosted in London earlier this year. Cruxland’s spirits blender, Ilse Du Toit, added that the craft gin category has grown exponentially in South Africa over the past couple of years and that this market has become fiercely competitive. “The fact that Cruxland Gin has been named the best from South Africa in a leading global competition is, therefore, all the more noteworthy and something we know our consumers will delight in equally.”

Tickets to Whisky & Spirits Live are available from Ranging from R260 – R320 each; tickets include a tasting glass, 16 tasting vouchers and a bottle of Consol Glass Still Water. High-end lifestyle products will be accessible from 17h00, while the Tasting Hall opens at 18h00 until 22h00.
